In addition to holding services, P\u00f6ide Church has hosted numerous events and activities\u00a0 <\/span>– research expeditions, lectures on the church and the order castle, action days of communal work; the congregation has celebrated the Visitation on July 2nd, and the Assumption of the Virgin on August 15th as the name day of P\u00f6ide St Mary\u2019s Church.<\/p>

Below, there is a brief overview of previous events.<\/strong><\/p>

2012
<\/b>On December 26th, started the roof renovation work of P\u00f6ide Church. The project, performed in most part by the company R\u00e4ndmeister, lasted for two years – the new roof restored to its original height was ready in 2014.<\/p>

2015
<\/b>Completion of three stained-glass windows in the tower bay. The project was supported by the Oesel Noble Corporation and by the Association of the Baltic Noble Corporations. In 2015, also an alley of curly birch trees (Betula pendula<\/i>\u00a0var.\u00a0carelica<\/i>) was planted.<\/span><\/p>

2016
<\/b>Restoration of the main portal, of the tower shutters, and of the other three stained-glass windows by Illar Kannelm\u00e4e. Completion of one of the tall windows was supported by the friends of the Estonian Heritage Society in Toronto, Canada.<\/p>

Restoration of the medieval baptismal font with its installation in the chancel.<\/p>

A painting was discovered on the vault of the western bay ceiling below the tower. Conservation of the painting was completed in 2019.<\/p>

2017
<\/b>Completion of the Ave Maria stained-glass window (designed by Elo Sova) in the southern wall of the nave. Celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, marked with planting an apple tree in the churchyard. A summer cafe was opened in the parsonage.<\/p>

2018
<\/b>Installation of the exterior night lighting.<\/p>

2019
<\/b>Installation of the interior lighting system started.<\/p>

Concerts
<\/b>P\u00f6ide church has hosted superb sacred music concerts given by Estonian musicians: the ensemble Tuli Taevast (2016, 2017), the chamber orchestra of the West-Estonian islands (2018), Vox Clamantis (2019), Hortus Musicus (2018, 2019, 2020). Liis Lulla-Knape, an Estonian\u2013Dutch flautist has given charity concerts in support of P\u00f6ide Church during 13 years.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
